Fr. Rhone Lillard Nebraska ( St. Francis Xavier ) Piura was the gateway to the faith for Peru and South America, and even now it continues to be that gateway. No where have I experienced a place and people with as much warmth, love, and faith. It is a priests' paradise. Not because there are no trials and sufferings but because The Lord, His Church, and the Sacraments are turned to and loved in the midst of their trials. It is a place where ones vision is made more clear, ones faith made stronger, and ones love burns hotter. I came to Piura to love and give to the poor, I leave Piura enriched beyond anything I could have imagined. To borrow from the words of Our Lord, I say, "Come and see!"
